Curiosity of The Sketchbook • Final Major project
This was a self directed brief that ran throughout the duration of my final year. I chose the topic of sketchbooks to research as I find them to be a vital part of the design process and easily forgotten when designing. I wanted to create a book highlighting all of the appealing aspects of a sketchbook and how they help and encourage the users creativity. I went for a more abstract style throughout the book as I wanted to inform the user of the topic and not take an approach to literal that would result
in an appearance close to a traditional ring bound sketchbook. With this in mind I still wanted to keep elements and subtleties of a sketchbook such as the binding, being a Coptic stitch bind allows the book to open flat. Also the use of white space throughout to reflect the calmness of a new sketchbook. This book is indented for Graphic Designers of all levels from student to senior as a reminder of the value and importance of a sketchbook when designing and the personal archive of creative ideas they create to one day revisit and relive.
