This was a live brief I entered an won a commendation award for the work submitted.
This was a brief that required me to design a homepage for yahoo. The company are looking to attract their new target audience of 13-18 year old who are just beginning to use the web on computers and smart phones.
The main factors I bared in mind whilst generating ideas for the new site were easy to navigate, bright and fluid to really engage the audience with the visuals of the site. I also wanted clear information without any clutter
and use of white space make the site easy to explore. I felt the bright green colour on the homepage is a very engaging colour that stood out well again the white text. The light opacity of images and some text creates a flow and fluidity to the site. Once the user has logged in, message on the homepage can become more personal and subtle touches like the background colour can be changed to an image if desired. Choosing what type of news you want on the homepage is another option too for the user. I feel I’ve kept the yahoo brands core values for their customers whilst updating the style to reach the younger target audience.
